April 2026 Status Update

I’m very sorry for going MIA for so long! ORZ

I knew going into it that writing an original story would be harder than doing translations for me, but I was met with some unexpected hurdles during the writing process. The advice I got as a first-time writer was to “write what you know,” so I did, but the subject matter ended up being too heavy for my current mental head space and I had to scrap the first idea after writing a good portion of it. That was quite disheartening for me.

Then I tried a different angle for the second story, but it still ended up hitting too close to home. So I had to set that story aside too. I’m currently working on my third story idea, and this one seems to be coming along better. Here’s hoping third time’s the charm.

I do like the premise of my first two story ideas. I hope that someday in the future, when I’m in a better head space, I’ll be able to pen those stories and share them with you.

In the meanwhile, I have a new update of DLYE to tie you over for a bit. I’m sorry that this one took a while to get out. I was overwhelmed with all the other things going on in life. But I said I wanted to finish translating DLYE at the very least and I intend to do so. I, too, want to read the ending of DLYE, and I only get to do that if I translate it. So we’re in this together.

A super big thank you to those who have been so patient with me all this time! I am really, truly grateful that you exist in my life. ♡

Chapter 128 – Temporary Imperial Residence, Part 5 (42.1)

Lin Jia Bao felt energetic after taking a nap.

He went to the courtyard where his parents were staying in and saw his mother, eldest sister, second sister, and younger sister. His mother told him that the crown prince had called his father and eldest brother away to introduce them to some officials.

Four children were chasing each other around and frolicking in the courtyard. The two older children, Lin Jia Cai and Lin Xiu Er, also joined in. Their laughter filled the courtyard. Lin Jin Er, Lin Li Er, and Wu Qiao Lan watched over them from the sidelines. The children’s laughter infected Lin Jia Bao and put him in a good mood. He talked and laughed. He even started to act coquettishly towards his mother.

Translations are by vmnovels [dot] com, if you’re reading this anywhere else, then it was stolen.

Unfortunately, not long after, this warm and happy scene was broken by three uninvited guests. Lin Li Er looked at Ke Mei Li and her two daughters, and frowned. She had a feeling that they were up to no good. She ran over to them and straight up asked, “What did you come here for?”

“Li Er, you little girl*, why are you so rude! How can your husband’s family tolerate you with such a personality!”

[*T/N: She calls her 丫头 yatou, which can mean “girl” or “servant girl.” It’s used deprecatingly, but sometimes it’s also used as a term of endearment.]

Zhang Hui Niang pushed Lin Li Er to one side and had her watch over the children together with Wu Qiao Lan. “Forget it, she is your aunt after all. You should change your temper.”

Zhang Hui Niang could see that Ke Mei Li and her daughters had something to say, so she led them over to a nearby pavilion where they all sat down. Lin Jin Er saw this and also went over to join them.

Ke Mei Li was very envious when she saw that there was an exquisite and beautiful pavilion in Zhang Hui Niang’s courtyard. She thought that if she could successfully persuade Jia Bao in the following conversation, then in the future her and her daughters would be treated like Zhang Hui Niang. Thus, she said in a fawning tone, “Jia Bao, your Chun Er-jiejie* told me about it. She really put you in a hard place. I already scolded her, so don’t take offense, okay?”

[*T/N: 姐姐 jiejie means “older sister” and can apply to any woman that is older than you, but is also used as a way to express familiarity or to create a sense of closeness. Ke Mei Li purposely said “your Chun Er-jiejie” as opposed to “my daughter, Chun Er” to make the listener, which is Lin Jia Bao, feel closer to the person being talked about, which is Lin Chun Er.]

Lin Jia Bao really hadn’t taken it to heart. “It’s all right.”

Zhang Hui Niang and Lin Jin Er were very angry when they heard that Lin Chun Er had begged their Jia Bao to ask the crown prince for an official position for her father-in-law. This was clearly making trouble for their Jia Bao!

Ke Mei Li saw that they were angry and immediately pretended to wipe her tears. “Alas! Our Chun Er has a hard life. Even now her stomach is not showing any signs of life. Her days are tough in the Wang family! If her parents-in-law tell her to do something, she can only do it. Alas! She still doesn’t know how to report back when she returns! You guys, don’t blame our Chun Er anymore.”

Upon seeing this, Zhang Hui Niang’s side felt like they couldn’t say anything more.

Seeing that their attitudes have improved, Ke Mei Li continued talking. “Speaking of children, ah! I’m also worried about your Jia Bao. Jia Bao is a ger. It’s bound to be difficult for him when it comes to bearing children…”

Translations by Vanilla Muse. Read on vmnovels [dot] com

Upon hearing this, Zhang Hui Niang and her daughter immediately yelled angrily, “Ke Mei Li, what nonsense are you spouting!”

Ke Mei Li disregarded their anger and continued talking, “Sister-in-law, you guys, don’t be angry. I’m just speaking the truth. I only came to you to talk about this because I thought of a plan.”

“What kind of plan can you come up with?” Lin Jin Er said disdainfully.

Ke Mei Li pulled Lin Xia Er in front of her. “Look, our Lin Xia Er is about to reach marriageable age*. Wouldn’t it be great if she can also become a concubine of His Royal Highness? Xia Er and Jia Bao are cousins. When Xia Er gives birth to children, they can look after each other. Then everything would be great!”

[*T/N: 及笄 jíjī – a girl reaches marriageable age on her fifteenth birthday]

“You certainly have a beautiful imagination!” Lin Jin Er didn’t believe Ke Mei Li’s words. If they really succeeded, how could they truly have the sincerity to take care of her younger brother? It’s already good enough if they didn’t purposely harm Jia Bao.

“Scram! Get out of here!” How could Zhang Hui Niang not understand what they were really after.

Lin Li Er, who was eavesdropping on the side, jumped out and cursed at Lin Xia Er, “You, Lin Xia Er, how dare you set your sights on His Royal Highness! Reflect on your morality and conduct. You’re not even worthy of being Jia Bao’s maid! Get out and keep dreaming!”

“How am I not worthy? Whether I’m worthy or not is up to the crown prince.” Lin Xia Er said to Lin Jia Bao, “Jia Bao-gege*, please introduce me to His Royal Highness. In the future, His Royal Highness will definitely have a lot, a lot of women. I’m your cousin, so I will always be on your side. Jia Bao-gege you don’t have to worry, okay?”

[*T/N: 哥哥 gege means “older brother.” It’s used in the same way as “older sister.” Refer to a previous translator’s note. Lin Xia Er is trying to create a sense of psychological closeness with Lin Jia Bao to get him to let his guard down.]

Chapter 127 – Temporary Imperial Residence, Part 4

Lin Chun Er expressed her request, “You will definitely be able to help me, and it won’t even be a difficult task for you. Jia Bao, ah, my father-in-law has been the official registrar in Pei County for a long time now. All these years, even if he didn’t contribute any meritorious service, he still put in a lot of hard work. It’s time for him to move up. You just need to mention this to His Royal Highness the crown prince, and ask His Royal Highness if there are any vacancies somewhere, and promote my father-in-law to the position of county head magistrate. That’s all.”

“Country head magistrate?” Lin Jia Bao was stunned for a moment, and then he immediately shook his head. “No, I can’t help you with this matter, cousin.” Harem members were not allowed to interfere in politics. He understood this rule well.

“Why not? Jia Bao, ah, you took the place of my good luck. Now that you have become a person of high rank, you don’t care about your poor relatives anymore? It’s such a small thing. You just have to pillow talk to the crown prince at night.” Lin Chun Er said with vigor.

Translations are by vmnovels [dot] com, if you’re reading this anywhere else, then it was stolen.

Lin Jia Bao still shook his head firmly, “This is really not okay.”

Lin Chun Er saw that Lin Jia Bao was unwilling to agree, but she refused to give up and continually promoted her request with words that sounded nice.

Lin Jia Bao couldn’t stand it any longer.

When Shu Ya saw this, she stepped forward and said to Lin Jia Bao, “Lin-cejun, it’s time for you to take a nap. His Royal Highness specially ordered it. He said you overexerted yourself yesterday and need to take a nap to recuperate your energy.”

When Lin Jia Bao heard this, he really did feel tired. His husband played with him all night yesterday and he didn’t get to sleep until dawn. As soon as he heard the word nap, he felt sleepy. He hurriedly said to Lin Chun Er in an apologetic tone, “Cousin, I really can’t help you with this matter.”

“You’re so big now and you still need to take a nap. It really is different when you become a person of high rank, huh!” Seeing that she really could not convince Lin Jia Bao, Lin Chun Er left in an angry huff.

Lin Chun Er returned to the courtyard where Ke Mei Li’s group was staying at. The more she thought about this matter the angrier she became. When she saw her mother and younger sister, she complained to them, “Alas! If only it was my younger sister who entered the palace, then I wouldn’t have to ask Lin Jia Bao, this ger.”

Lin Xia Er also agreed after hearing her older sister say this. “That’s right. If it weren’t for my young age, he would’ve never had a chance! I don’t know what His Royal Highness sees in him. He’s not even as good looking as me.”

Lin Chun Er listened to her younger sister’s words and gave her pretty little face another look. An idea came to her mind.

“I have an idea. It would be great if my younger sister could also become one of His Royal Highness’s concubines. Younger Sister and Lin Jia Bao are cousins, so they naturally share similarities. Since the crown prince likes Lin Jia Bao’s type, then there’s no reason why he would not like my younger sister. Moreover, you are younger and more beautiful than Lin Jia Bao.”

Ke Mei Li agreed very much after hearing this. Weren’t all men like that? Even the crown prince should be the same. They all liked young and beautiful people. And right now, Xia Er was at the same age when Lin Jia Bao first became the crown prince’s xiaoshi.

Translations by Vanilla Muse. Read on vmnovels [dot] com

“We have to think of a plan! If Xia Er becomes His Royal Highness’s concubine, then our family will also flourish. We won’t have to feel inferior to Zhang Hui Niang anymore. After all, Lin Jia Bao is just a ger. We don’t even know if he will be able to give birth. But our Xia Er is not the same. It will definitely be easier for her to give birth than that ger. If she gives birth to a child, she might even be conferred the status of an imperial concubine. Then our family really will be relatives with the imperial family. Ha ha.”

Lin Xia Er’s face was full of confidence. She could almost imagine her life as an imperial consort already. She would be surrounded by servants and have eunuchs and palace maids at her beck and call.

Lin Chun Er, Ke Mei Li, and Lin Xia Er then got into a serious discussion to make a plan…

[T/N: In terms of harem rankings mentioned in this chapter, from highest to lowest it is: imperial consort > imperial concubine > concubine 侍妾 = xiaoshi 小侍 (or “small attendant”). I believe xiaoshi is a made-up ranking for BL. Please do correct me if I’m wrong.]

Status Update

Dear Readers,

I am very sorry for being away so unexpectedly. I did not expect things in real life to suddenly get crazy. My schedule was all over the place, but I’m managing it better now, so I’m able to get back online, but there will be some changes going forward.

Let me give you the TL,DR short version up front. Due to a series of circumstances and decisions, my translation speed will be slowing down. I intend to continue translating all my current projects until there is no more Patreon support for my translations or until I completely run out of steam, whichever comes first, but updates will not be as frequent as before.

I understand that this is upsetting news for avid readers. I deeply apologize for that. If anyone is interested in taking over one or more of my translation projects, please let me know in a comment and we can talk about it. The one exception is DLYE, because this story is nearing the end, so I think it is best that I finish translating this project, as changing translators this late in the game might disrupt the flow of the story. But my other translation projects are up for adoption.

Moving forward, my plan is to finish translating DLYE first. After that I will put up a poll and you can decide which project you would like me to focus on next.

For those who are curious, I can tell you a little bit about what is going on, but I don’t want to get too detailed about private matters online. In short, when the elderly are in need of care, it is (not always, but) very often the women who are pressured into taking up the bulk of the responsibility of caregiving. I’ve also had to use my savings, so my finances aren’t looking so good lately.

I do have Patreon supporters for my translations and I am truly grateful for each and every one of you. But the amount I make on Patreon is not enough to cover the increased expenses and the support has been gradually dwindling over time.

Unfortunately, between a full-time job and caregiving, there’s not a lot of time, energy, or options left for side hustles. After thinking about it, I decided to try my hand at writing original stories. From my understanding, original stories are more valued than translations, so I’m hoping the monetary support for original stories will be greater than translated stories.

Writing is also more flexible for me than translating. I’m not fluent in Chinese, so I rely on MTL and the Internet to help me. That means I have to work on my desktop computer at home and I need to have multiple programs up at the same time while I translate. With writing, I just need a note-taking app on my phone or a pen and paper, so I’m not tied down to my desktop and I can write when I’m not home, such as in waiting rooms and on public transit.

As for the types of stories I will be writing, it will be BL and smut.

I will be posting my original stories here on vmnovels.com and likely on websites like Royal Road, Scribble Hub, and Tapas to get exposure to a larger audience. I will also create a separate Patreon page for my original stories where there will be advance chapters, early access, and uncensored NSFW content unavailable anywhere else.

Patreon will be the most comprehensive platform for my stories. Asides from needing Patreon to make money, it is also the only trustworthy website that I currently know of that doesn’t rely on ads for revenue, so I can upload smut on there without restrictions. Ad companies do not want their ads to be displayed alongside NSFW content, so they’ll make you take it down or restrict it somehow. And if you want the ad revenue, you have to comply with their rules. So even if I wanted to post smut elsewhere, I can’t do it freely.

Yes, I want money and would greatly appreciate any financial support, but I understand if you can’t or don’t want to as we all have our own personal problems to handle. Please consider your own financial stability first. I just want to explain why I have to make these changes. If you would like to offer me non-financial support, then sharing my stories with your friends or leaving a review for my stories on Royal Road, Scribble Hub, and Tapas will be helpful as it drives up engagement. If you decide to support me in any way, shape, or form, you have my utmost gratitude.

If you’ve read all that, thank you for your patience and for your understanding of my changing circumstances. My readers have always been the kindest people ever, and you have left me many nice comments over the years. Without you, I would have given up on translating a long time ago. From here on out, I hope I can continue to bring you entertainment with my original stories.

Yours,

Vanilla Muse

P.S. The next update for DLYE should be posted in three days time. As for my original story, I would like to get that out a.s.a.p. but I’ll need some time to outline the plot and write the story. I hope to have something out by September of this year.

Chapter 55 – Li Rong Can’t* (20.1)

[*T/N: The chapter title in Chinese is 李戎不行. The first part “李戎” is Li Rong. The second part “不行” translates into “can’t, no good, won’t do, not capable.” It also has the connotation of a man not being to get it up. “It” as in his meat stick.]

The point was not whether his clothes would get dirty or not, the point was that An Ji was going to use his hands… wu…

Just imagining it made Li Rong feel hot all over. Li Rong buried his face in his palms, and the tips of his ears were as red as ripe cherries.

What happened to An Ji? Why did he suddenly become so proactive? Of course, this didn’t mean that Li Rong did not like it. On the contrary, he was so happy that he was afraid that An Ji was forced to be intimate with him…

The car drove slowly towards the palace. The air conditioner temperature in the car was set very low, but Li Rong’s face was abnormally flushed. He has very fair skin and today he was wearing a black suit very solemnly. Under the obvious color contrast, this pink was even more obvious.

Seeing Li Rong’s intense reaction, An Ji was stunned for a moment, not knowing whether the other party was shy or wanted to refuse.

It was just a simple exchange of pheromones. Last time, Li Rong helped him with his hands, so this time he wanted to help Li Rong with his hands. It was a fair and reasonable exchange in An Ji’s mind. But Li Rong suddenly had such a big reaction, which caused An Ji to be embarrassed. It gave him the feeling of being a dirty old man about to teach a little kid something bad.

An Ji was a person who paid great attention to efficiency. He asked again, “So do you want it or not?”

Li Rong’s breathing became a little faster. His palms were wet with sweat and his heart was beating wildly as if it was about to jump out of his chest.

In this long silence, Li Rong’s Adam’s apple rolled heavily, and he said in a hoarse voice, “Want.”

An Ji rolled up his sleeves and about to get started, but he saw the pedestrians outside the window and came to a startled halt.

He asked uncertainly, “Although I know it’s unlikely, I still want to ask, is the window one-way?”

Li Rong gritted his teeth and said, “One-way.”

“Okay, good.” An Ji breathed a sigh of relief and brought his attention back to the inside of the car.

Translations are by vmnovels [dot] com, if you’re reading this anywhere else, then it was stolen.

An Ji’s body shape and appearance were that of a standard omega: soft and harmless, like a flower that could be picked at will. But as long as you look into his eyes, you will find that under his soft appearance is an extremely strong person who talks the talk and walks the walk.

Fragile and strong, two completely opposite temperaments were perfectly combined in him.

Even now, Li Rong still has a strange sense of unreality, especially when An Ji touched his arm. Li Rong’s body suddenly tensed up. A sense of numbness spread all over his body.

“Can you really do it?” An Ji’s hand stopped in midair. “If you’re not used to it, then forget it? After all, there are other methods, but they’ll just be a little less effective.”

An Ji only wore a white shirt today. His skin was fair and his lips were rosy. When the afternoon sun shone on him, his whole body exuded a clean and refreshing smell. Such a clean person was asking Li Rong if he could do it.

A secret depravity took hold of Li Rong and he continued to fall into the abyss. He tightened his hands on his knees and said in a hoarse voice, “I can.”

Support the translator. Read this on: vmnovels.com

His heartbeat became rapid again. He was full of momentum and ready to go.

Li Rong leaned back on the leather seat, feeling like his soul had turned into a string. And An Ji was the hand that pulled him, tightening and loosening, tightening and loosening…

From the universe to the stars, from protons to quarks, everything in the universe was gathered in these constantly shaking energy strings.

Li Rong closed his eyes, and his soul left his body little by little, wandering in this vast universe, watching the strings collide, merge, and finally form a new big wave.

Suddenly, there was a “snap” sound, and the archer loosened his grip, and his soul fell into a long tremor.

……

In the car, An Ji exhaled heavily. After cleaning up, he rubbed his limp wrist.

That took way too long. Compared to when Li Rong did it to him, this made him more tired…

Translations by Vanilla Muse. Read on vmnovels [dot] com

An Ji lay on the chair and kicked Li Rong’s calf. “You handle the rest yourself. I’m taking a break.”

No one answered him, only waves of steady breathing came.

An Ji turned his head and gasped instantly.

What the heck, he fainted again???

Li Rong, you really can’t do it, right??!

Chapter 126 – Temporary Imperial Residence, Part 4

Xuan Yuan Han Cheng pressed Jia Bao to the bed. He kissed his darling’s small mouth, tasting the honey inside. The sweet fragrance of the wine made him intoxicated. The red gauze curtains on the bed were drawn down, and the two people within the curtains were entangled with each other until dawn.

The next day, it was almost noon when Lin Jia Bao woke up, and Xuan Yuan Han Cheng was nowhere to be seen. Lin Jia Bao’s body was sore, and the memory of last night was imprinted in his mind. Lin Jia Bao blushed with embarrassment. His husband was so bad. He made him do this and that while he was drunk… He was too embarrassed to think about it again.

“Whoa!” Lin Jia Bao found a small box studded with gems on his pillow.

Lin Jia Bao opened it and saw a small rectangular seal inside. The entire seal was made of Hetian* white jade. Auspicious animals were carved on the top, and the character for “Bao” was engraved on the seal with bold cursive calligraphy.

[*T/N: Hetian is a city and prefecture in Xinjiang]

Xuan Yuan Han Cheng had designed and carved the seal himself. Originally, he wanted to give it to Jia Bao as a birthday gift the night before, but Jia Bao was too drunk… so Xuan Yuan Han Cheng placed it on the pillow besides Jia Bao this morning, hoping that Jia Bao would be able to see it as soon as he woke up.

Lin Jia Bao held the small seal and was filled with joy. He knew that his husband must be the one who gave this to him, and his heart felt as sweet as honey.

Shu Ya and Shu Qin heard the movement from inside the room and came in to help Lin Jia Bao get ready for the day.

Translations by Vanilla Muse. Read on vmnovels [dot] com

While Shu Ya changed Lin Jia Bao’s clothes, she said, “His Royal Highness said that he will be meeting with the Li Province officials today, and that Lin-cejun should have lunch first without waiting for him.”

Lin Ji Bao nodded to show that he received the message.

After finishing lunch, Lin Jia Bao couldn’t wait to take out the paintings he drew from the previous few days. He dipped the seal in red paste, pressed it onto the painting, and inspected the seal carefully. The more he observed, the more he liked it!

Lin Jia Bao put the seal in a brocade bag, with every intention of carrying it with him all the time.

At this time, Yuan Qing came in to report that Lin Chun Er was waiting outside hoping to seek an audience with him. Although he was a little surprised, he still had Yuan Qing take her to the side hall first.

“Cousin* Chun Er.” Lin Jia Bao came to the side hall and invited Lin Chun Er to have a seat.

[*T/N: In English, we can just call every extended family member a “cousin,” but the Chinese are very specific about how that family member is related to you on the family tree, and the terms of address reflect that. Here, he used the word “堂姐 tang jie” which means “older female patrilineal cousin.”]

“Jia Bao, ah! Your cousin haven’t been able to have a good chat with you since coming to this temporary imperial residence.” Lin Chun Er looked at Lin Jia Bao’s gorgeous clothes and his youthful face. The two of them are obviously only a little more than one year apart, but now they seem to be far apart in age. “Alas! Think about it, the fate of the two of us is really a coincidence. If it hadn’t been for me, you wouldn’t have been able to take my place and enter the palace.”

Support the translator. Read this on: vmnovels.com

Lin Jia Bao listened patiently to his cousin, but didn’t know how to respond to her.

Lin Chun Er continued, “Alas! Your cousin’s life is not good, the life of a chongxi bride is hard! You have such a good life, you’re living the life of brocade clothes and jade silk. If I had been the one who entered the palace at that time, then our current positions would be reversed.”

[*T/N: Reminder, a chongxi bride is a bride used to usher in good luck to a family that is experiencing bad luck.]

A snort of laughter sounded. Shu Qin, who was standing behind Lin Jia Bao, could not help but laugh. Shu Ya also could not contain her mirth. This Lin Chun Er really had a daring imagination. She was dark and robust. How could the crown prince fall in love with her?

Translations are by vmnovels [dot] com, if you’re reading this anywhere else, then it was stolen.

Lin Chun Er got angry that they were laughing at her, and she glared at Shu Qin and Shu Ya fiercely. She lectured Lin Jia Bao as if imparting some bitter lesson, “Jia Bao, ah. It’s not that this cousin wants to lecture you, but you are His Royal Highness’s cejun. Why are the palace maids around you so unruly? You’re such a doormat. This is not okay!”

Lin Jia Bao could only try to placate Lin Chun Er. “Cousin Chun Er, don’t be angry. What did you come here for today?”

“Jia Bao, ah. Your cousin is here to beg a favor today. You have to help me! Your cousin’s good life in the future depends entirely on you.” Lin Chun Er said.

Seeing his cousin like this, Lin Jia Bao asked, “Help? What is the matter? If I can help, I will definitely help you, cousin.”

Chapter 125 – Temporary Imperial Residence, Part 4

His Royal Highness, the crown prince, was throwing a birthday party in celebration of his most beloved Lin-cejun. Many people came to celebrate and they brought many priceless gifts for the birthday boy, which was an eye-opener for everyone in the Lin family, and even more so for Lin Da Li’s family.

Lin Jia Bao warmly and cordially received the family members of officials who came to celebrate, and behaved very appropriately. The prefectural magistrate of Xu Province, Shi Qi Shan, and his wife also came. Zhang Hui Jiang, Madam Qin, and Lin Jin Er were already familiar with the prefectural magistrate’s wife. They talked together and did not seem to feel uncomfortable among the officials’ wives.

Support the translator. Read this on: vmnovels.com

Ke Mei Li, Lin Chun Er, and Lin Xia Er were not so at ease. No one came to talk to them, and when they tried to approach the others, they couldn’t contribute to the conversation at all.

The banquet began sat five o’ clock in the evening. Xuan Yuan Han Cheng and Lin Jia Bao took the seats of honor. Lin Da Zhuang’s family and the Qin family were both assigned positions in the front. Lin Da Li’s family was located further back. Ke Mei Li and the others were very dissatisfied with this but did not dare to say anything.

Xuan Yuan Han Cheng looked at Lin Da Li and his family coldly. He already knew everything about what Lin Da Li and his family had done. Of course, they wouldn’t come into the palace if it weren’t for their Jia Bao, so Xuan Yuan Han Cheng decided to let them go for the time being. But if they come up with some other foul deed, he would definitely not let them off again.

In addition to delicious food and wine, there were also singing and dancing at the banquet. The dancers danced gracefully, and the lead dancer’s movements were graceful and lithe. Lin Chun Er’s husband could not take his eyes off them.

Translations by Vanilla Muse. Read on vmnovels [dot] com

At the end of the banquet, brilliant fireworks rose over the palace. Xuan Yuan Han Cheng hugged Lin Jia Bao in front of everyone without hesitation, “Do you like it?” He knew that his darling liked to watch fireworks the most.

“I like it very much! I’m very happy!” Lin Jia Bao generously allowed Xuan Yuan Han Cheng to embrace him.

All the officials from Li Province look upon this couple and thought that it was a good thing they came to this birthday celebration.

Lin Xia Er’s face was filled with admirations, and she looked at the crown prince affectionately, imagining that it would be great if the person in His Royal Highness’s arms was her.

Lin Li Er had been paying attention to Lin Da Li’s family, and when she saw Lin Xia Er’s expression, she could guess what the other girl was thinking. Lin Li Er sneered at Lin Xia Er. She actually dared to set her sights on the crown prince. Lin Li Er secretly decided to pay close attention to Lin Xia Er during their stay in the temporary imperial palace and not let her cause trouble.

After the banquet was over, Xuan Yuan Han Cheng hugged Jia Bao, who was already slightly tipsy, and left. Seeing how happy his darling was today, Xuan Yuan Han Cheng specially allowed him to drink some fruit wine. Unexpectedly, Jia Bao could not hold his liquor. He became somewhat intoxicated after drinking only two cups.

Being able to celebrate his birthday in the company of his family and husband, Lin Jia bao felt extremely happy today. Lin Jia Bao was dizzy, his steps were unsteady, and he seemed to be stepping on clouds.

On the way back to the bedroom, Lin Jia Bao suddenly said, “I can dance too, Husband… I can dance too.”

Lin Jia Bao’s steps were unsteady as he talked. He hummed an unknown song, and began to circle around Xuan Yuan Han Cheng.

Xuan Yuan Han Cheng did not know whether to laugh or cry as he watched Jia Bao “dance.” He pulled Jia Bao into his arms. “Okay, baby, stop dancing, you’ll get dizzy.”

“I haven’t finished dancing yet.” Lin Jia Bao said loudly. Until he returned to the bedroom, Lin Jia Bao was still clamoring to dance.

Xuan Yuan Han Cheng had no choice but to carry him to the bed. “Okay… okay… let you dance, let you dance… how about we dance on the bed?” Xuan Yuan Han Cheng said with a twinkle in his eyes.

“Okay…” Lin Jia Bao nodded foolishly.

Chapter 160.2 – Heartless and Unjust

Wei Shun Qing lowered his eyes. There seemed to be a blue light reflected in his eyes. Then he said each word clearly, “It’s very simple, if one day your mother suddenly appears and identifies us, you just need to insist that you are not An Qiao E, and leave the rest to me.”

Consort Yan covered her mouth and looked at him with wide eyes, “You mean you want me to deny my mother?”

There was a hint of ruthlessness in Wei Shun Qing’s eyes, “Yes, this is the only way to protect us. It’s not enough for just Emperor Chong Ming to believe in us. At that time, I will make everyone believe that you are just someone who looks exactly like An Qiao E.”

“Then what about my mother?” Consort Yan asked loudly.

Once they successfully prove that they don’t know Fang Jun Ping, her mother will have no more value to the other side, and then those people will definitely kill her to vent their anger.

“I know you can’t let go of your mother, but this is the only way, otherwise we will all be doomed. Only by sacrificing your mother can we save us.” Wei Shun Qing grabbed her shoulders and stared fixedly at her, as if there was a whirlpool in there sucking away her soul.

Consort Yan was dazed.

Wei Shun Qing’s gentle and bewitching voice sounded in her ears.

“Qiao E, don’t you like me? Are you willing to let me die? I know you feel sad, but have you ever thought about it, your mother is willing to tell our secrets to our enemies just to survive. She never once thought about your circumstances. The crime of deceiving the emperor is to be beheaded. If she is heartless, then we will be unjust.”

Clarity gradually returned to Consort Yan’s eyes, and her eyes suddenly revealed a firm light, “You are right, if she doesn’t spill our secrets, then I can still respect her as my mother. But if she really stabs us in the back, then she can’t blame me for denying her relation to me.”

Wei Shun Qing stroked the side of her face and smiled with satisfaction.

He did have some contacts after operating for ten years. It was not impossible to sneak into the third prince’s mansion to find Fang Jun Ping, but he would have to make some sacrifices. He didn’t want to lose any of his subordinated for Fang Jun Ping. She had no value to him and she was a nuisance. To him, it would be better if she were dead.

Ever since An Zi Ran told Fu Yuan Cheng that Consort Yan was probably the eldest daughter of the An family, Fu Yuan Cheng ordered his men to start investigating along this trail.

An Qiao E and her mother had quite a reputation in An Yuan County. But it was a bad reputation. The story of the two of them stealing precious things and escaping from the An family was spread around, and everyone from the elderly to the young knew about it, so they were able to get a portrait of the two women in a short amount of time.

The eighteen-year-old girl in the portrait indeed looked exactly like Consort Yan.

If there was any difference, it was in the temperament.

The girl in the portrait has a stern face. Although she was beautiful, the first impression she gave people was not pleasant. She even seemed a bit lifeless. Her eyes seemed to be soaked with a kind of resentment, but it’s understandable when you think about her status in the An family.

However, Consort Yan was a charming woman, with flirtatious eyes. It was as if she was tempting men all the time. She was completely different from the person in the portrait.

Although they looked similar, if most people saw the two women, their first impression would be that they were two different people, and that they just happened to look alike.

That was what most people would think, but Fu Yuan Cheng’s intuition told him that they must be the same person.

Afterwards, he continued to investigate along this trail, and his men found Feng City. At first, they thought that they could find traces of their life there, but the result was beyond their expectation. There was not a single person in Feng City who knew the mother and daughter pair.

If they had not been certain that Fang Jun Ping and her daughter had indeed gone to Feng City, then they might have really thought that the two of them had never been to Feng City. There was only one answer to this result, and that was that someone deliberately erased the traces of the two of them living there.

Chapter 54 – I Will Help You With My Hands

What’s the meaning of reserved? Can you eat that thing?*” Li Xiangxin thought Li Rong was talking about An Ji, so she rolled her eyes and said indignantly, “Our An Ji-gege is using his video to call on omegas to break through social prejudices and their own limitations.”

[*T/N: “What’s the meaning of ____? Can you eat that thing?” You often see this sentence pattern in media and it’s used to express that the ____ concept in question is meaningless to the speaker if it can’t do something practical like fill up one’s belly.]

“An Ji-gege?” Li Rong narrowed his eyes unhappily. “You were just calling him sister-in-law.”

Li Xiangxin replied, “Oh, I now declare that you are not worthy of him.”

“Very good,” Li Rong laughed instead of being angry, “Your interstellar travel this year is ruined.”

Li Xiangxin: “…”

Backed into a corner like his, the little princess called out “sister-in-law” in humiliation. Only then did Li Rong let her off the hook.

An Ji came to his house for afternoon tea. Li Rong was even more nervous than the two ladies.

The afternoon tea was arranged in a sunny greenhouse, and the food and decorations were all arranged by the host. Li Rong followed Liao Yunyan around like a little tail, sometimes shuffling the flower arrangements around, sometimes adjusting the tablecloth, and he even dropped the dessert made by Li Xiangxin on the ground.

Liao Yunyan, who could no longer bear it, kicked him out: “Don’t come any closer, get out, and go pick him up!”

Before leaving, Li Rong was still worried and he told the little princess, ”Li Xiangxin, remember, when An Ji comes later, don’t talk nonsense, don’t call him sister-in-law, and don’t look at him like a fangirl!” While Li Xiangxin hissed up a storm at him, he slipped out of the palace.

At the An family’s residence, An Ji walked of the door and saw Li Rong right away. He was standing there and waving at him.

The temperature was still high in August. Li Rong was standing under the shade of a tree while dressed in a suit. When he saw An Ji come out of the house, he immediately smiled widely. His white teeth flashed in the sun.

An Ji couldn’t help but speed up his pace. “Sorry to keep you waiting.”

Li Rong opened the car door. “It’s okay, I just got here too.”

The car drove slowly towards the palace. The space inside the car was not narrow, but in the sealed environment, An Ji could not help but smell a hint of fir wood, mixed with the refreshing grapefruit representing the summer atmosphere. It was Li Rong’s pheromones, which made him feel at ease.

An Ji leaned over and took a few sniffs without making a sound, with a vigilant look like a cat stealing fish.

However, after smelling the pleasant scent, he immediately narrowed his eyes in satisfaction, as if anyone could scratch his belly.

An Ji smelled Li Rong’s pheromones. He looked contented and satisfied with the scent…

Upon realizing this, Li Rong felt something wrong with himself. His heartbeat was completely out of his control. It felt like his heart would beat out of his chest.

What does he want to do? Could it be that he likes me? Does my pheromones make him like me? If I let him smell my pheromones every day, will he agree to be with me?

A mess of thoughts whirled through his head. Li Rong’s breathing became a bit shallow and his face flushed abnormally.

“Are you feeling uncomfortable?” An Ji suddenly asked.

“No,” Li Rong’s Adam’s apple rolled, and he explained, “I just feel a little dizzy. It might be too hot.”

“Is that so?” An Ji seemed a little disappointed, “I thought your pheromone disorder was acting up again.”

“Ah?” Li Rong didn’t react for a while.

“I thought I could treat you.” An Ji said. At this moment, his long eyelashes drooped slightly, and his elegant white neck was immersed in the collar of his shirt, leaving an ambiguous shadow that made people fantasize.

Treatment?

Did An Ji mean what Li Rong thought he meant? Was he going to do something similar to what he did in the garden that night?

Li Rong’s Adam’s apple rolled heavily and his gaze gradually darkened.

“I want you to give me treatment.” Li Rong heard himself say.

An Ji said, “But let’s not kiss this time, all right? We have to meet your family later and it’s not polite to have swollen lips for that.”

Li Rong lowered his eyes, with disappointment that he himself didn’t realize, he said, “Okay…”

An Ji said, “This time I’ll help you with my hands.”

With hands?

With hands!

Was he going to use his hands like that?

Li Rong’s mind turned blank in an instant and his emotions went on a volatile roller coaster ride. It took him several minutes to come back to his senses. He stuttered out, “Ah… this… that… isn’t that… isn’t that going too fast?”

An Ji asked him, “You don’t want to?”

“No, no, I don’t mean that!” Li Rong denied and shook his head like a rattle. “I didn’t say I don’t want to!”

Then what was the reason? An Ji thought about it for a moment and then said, “I will be careful and won’t dirty your clothes.”

Li Rong: “!!!”
