Chapter 141.3 – To Incite Disharmony

An Zi Ran suddenly had the urge to laugh, but before he could laugh out loud, the laowangye seemed to have sense his mirth and turned his head to glare at him. He suddenly felt inexplicable.

The laowangye started raging out of humiliation, “What will it take for you to marry a woman and carry on the ancestral line?”

Fu Wu Tian answered him tit for tat, “What will it take for you to give up on the idea of making your grandson carry on the ancestral line?”

His answer infuriated the laowangye to the high heavens.

Out of the blue, An Zi Ran opened his mouth and broke the tense atmosphere between the grandfather and grandson pair. “Grandfather, having Uncle carry on the ancestral line may not be out of the question.”

The laowangye could not help frowning when he heard these words, but this time he did not directly refute.

An Zi Ran knew that he had guessed right.

If possible, the laowangye would much prefer to have Uncle take a wife and give birth to progeny. Then he would pass on his title to Uncle’s future son. He probably felt that this was the only way to make up for all the things that he owed him through all these years.

Translations are by vmnovels [dot] com, if you’re reading this anywhere else, then it was stolen.

Fu Wu Tian taking An Zi Ran as his wangfei actually coincidentally fulfilled the laowangye’s most hidden wishes. But he also knew that it would be very difficult to get Fu Yi to marry and have children, since the man was already forty years old but still did not have any plans to start a family.

“What does wangfei mean?” Fu Wu Tian asked on his grandfather’s behalf.

An Zi Ran replied, “There is an idiom that says the matter depends on the individual.”

[T/N: “the matter depends on the individual” = with effort, one can achieve anything]

There was no need for him to explain further. Both the grandfather and grandson understood his meaning. The matter depends on the individual. That meant there was no harm in trying…

A flash of unwillingness flickered across the laowangye’s eyes, but in the end he succumbed to his true desires. “Don’t think that you can escape the matter just like this. If your uncle still refuses, I will still force you two.”

With this challenge in mind, An Zi Ran and Fu Wu Tian would definitely make the situation with Fu Yi bear fruit.

At the same time, Fu Yi, who was pulling the horse carriage over, suddenly felt his nose itching. He wondered if someone was thinking about him.

Not long after, Fu Yi arrived in front of them with the carriage.

Fu Wu Tian glanced in the direction of Taiqing Palace. At this time, the banquet should be coming to an end. He suddenly stopped the laowangye who was about to get on the carriage.

“Grandfather, I forgot to tell you something.”

The laowangye paused and turned around: “What is it?”

An Zi Ran was also a little curious, not knowing what Fu Wu Tian wanted to say.

“I’m guessing Grandfather doesn’t know about Consort Yan, right?” Fu Wu Tian said casually.

A light bulb went off in An Zi Ran’s head, and he immediately knew what Fu Wu Tian was trying to do. He had to admit that this move of Fu Wu Tian’s was very nasty, but he liked it.

“What Consort Yan?” The laowangye really did not know.

Translations by Vanilla Muse.

“Consort Yan is the imperial concubine that the emperor conferred with a rank a few months ago. She is living in Zhaozi Palace by special edict. A few days ago, the emperor angered Great Grandmother to the point of illness over her. It harmed her vital energies, and she had to stay in bed for quite a few days before she got better…”

“What did you say?”

The expression on the laowangye’s face became extremely terrifying, as if he was about to eat people. His eyes were extremely cruel, and the suffocating aura that had faded suddenly burst out.

“A lot of people know about this…”

Before Fu Wu Tian could finish speaking, the laowangye had already rushed towards Taiqing Palace with a suffocating aura and monstrous anger. No one dared to approach him, let alone stop him, with his violent aura and hideous expression. There were very few people in the palace that did not know him. Back in the day, when the laowangye caused a ruckus in the palace, no one dared to do anything about it.

Everyone knew that the emperor had an imperial uncle who never gave him face. The emperor hated it so much, but he also couldn’t do anything to his imperial uncle!

Fu Yi watched the laowangye leave in a fit of rage and shook his head helplessly. He turned around and said to Fu Wu Tian, “You would even manipulate your grandfather.” After saying this, he chased after the old man.

The corner of Fu Wu Tian’s mouth curved up in a slight arc. Then he took An Zi Ran by the hand.

“Wangfei, let’s go watch a good show.”

Chapter 116 – Fairy Idol (38.1)

Trembling and swaying, Qiu Jin straightened up. Just as he was about to walk out the door, he heard Ji Shenxiao say, “Go together with me tomorrow.”

This time, Qiu Jin did not refuse him. He just dropped a reminder: “I’m going two hours early. I have to do hair and makeup.”

The opening press conference required that all the actors be in costume when they go up on stage. Qiu Jin would be going on stage as Ji He.

Ji He’s hair and makeup wasn’t that troublesome to do, but there would be a lot of other actors. A few dozen major characters all needed to be styled and dressed within a limited time. No matter how many makeup artists they have it would still be very busy.

Translations are by vmnovels [dot] com, if you’re reading this anywhere else, then it was stolen.

Only the big shots have the privilege of arriving late. Small-time actors like him could only arrive earlier and get in the queue.

There was no red carpet segment linked to this press conference and there were no external ticket sales. Only the investors, producers, and media were invited to participate in the event. The fans knew about this press conference, but they could not get in, so they could only squat around and wait in hopes of seeing their idols.

One o’ clock in the afternoon was the hottest time of day, but the fans did not look the least bit annoyed. They waited under their umbrellas, jittering with excitement. There were practically sparkles in their eyes as they waited.

Qiu Jin got out of the car and looked around, but did not see any of his fans.

Yang Chi and Liu Wei were already waiting for him in the lobby on the first floor, and they immediately greeted him when they saw him approaching.

Liu Wei went off to alert the staff of Qiu Jin’s arrival. When he came back he demonstrated his keen yet annoying ability to broach the topic that a person wanted to avoid the most. He asked, “Bro, how did you get here? Why didn’t you want me to drive you?”

“I hitched a ride,” Qiu Jin replied vaguely, and then he asked, “Where’s the dressing room?”

“Who did you hitched a ride with… ah, why are you kicking me?” Liu Wei looked at Yang Chi with aggrieved eyes while clutching his calf.

Yang Chi took over the conversation: “Let me take you over to the dressing room. Let’s get you ready a bit earlier.”

Qiu Jin nodded, thinking that at least one of them was reliable.

To his surprise, just as soon as he finished praising Yang Chi in his head, Yang Chi turned around and started to ask him, “That, um… if you’re having an affair, you must tell us, so that the company can make a note of it.”

“Who told you that I want to be in a relationship?” Qiu Jin frowned, “I don’t plan on getting into a relationship within the next few years. Work is the most important thing.”

It’s based on your interactions with President Ji! You’re telling me that the two of you are not dating? Who are you lying to? Yang Chi thought.

Yang Chi had a thousand questions building up inside, but upon noting the sharp line of Qiu Jin’s jaw, he held back those questions.

Forget it. The actor that he’s in charge of has grown up. He couldn’t restrict Qiu Jin anymore.

When Qiu Jin entered the dressing room, many people took the initiative to say hello to him, and the staff also arranged a makeup artist for him very quickly. Their attitude towards Qiu Jin was very familiar as if they were dealing with some big shot celebrity.

Yang Chi didn’t go to the script reading meeting, so he was almost stunned by this scene.

When did Qiu Jin become so popular?

One of the actors that greeted Qiu Jin was very popular at the moment, and she was even the heroine of the show! Even someone like her took the initiative to say hello to Qiu Jin?

Yang Chi was still reeling in surprise when the door to the dressing room opened and a tall and elegant woman walked in. She wore oversized sunglasses on her face, but it still could not hide her beauty. It was Zhang Qiongzi. She won the Best Actress award last year!

Qiu Jin turned his head to greet her: “Qiongzi-laoshi, you’re also here early?”

Zhang Qiongzi sat down next to him, and said straightforwardly, “My makeup is somewhat more complicated.” Her candidness gave off a confident aura.

Seeing Qiu Jin just sitting there, she then asked, “Did you not bring a makeup artist? You can borrow my makeup artist.”

Qiu Jin smiled and shook his head, “Thank you, Qiongzi-laoshi, but the staff here has already made arrangements for me.”

Zhang Qiongzi nodded, took off her sunglasses and threw them on the dressing table, revealing a bright and flamboyant face, which perfectly fit Empress Miluo’s beautiful and ruthless character image.

Translations by Vanilla Muse.

Moreover, she was born with magnanimous features so her beauty did not look like the sinister kind.

Liu Wei was starstruck. He pinched his palm and kept thinking to himself that he must remain calm and cool-headed. He worked for Qiu-ge, so he could not ask other celebrities for their autographs in such a disrespectful manner.

But this was his goddess, Zhang Qiongzi, ahhhhh! He has revered this person as his goddess ever since high school!

Over the years, his goddess has become more and more impressive. He was internally freaking out, especially with her sitting in front of him right now. She was like a beautiful celestial fairy that has descended to earth.

Liu Wei desperately wanted to go over and ask for an autograph, but he also remembered his responsibilities and that he could not embarrass his boss. So he just pretended to be calm and stood there, but he couldn’t help looking around frequently.

Perhaps it was because he was looking around too frequently, or perhaps Zhang Qiongzi was too bored during the makeup process, so she asked, “Hey young one, who are you with?”

Chapter 31 – Dizzy from Kissing Too Much

Li Rong told him to do whatever he wanted.

An Ji thought for a while. Then he suddenly raised his hands and gave Li Rong a big hug.

At that moment, Li Rong felt all the blood in his body rush to his brain, and his cheeks turned red with a bang. So was this the so-called medical treatment agreement? If the treatment was like this, then he was willing to be sick for the rest of his life.

An Ji thought that a hug would make Li Rong feel better, but he didn’t expect that Li Rong’s reaction would get even worse. Li Rong’s whole body became stiff and blood surged to his head. It was as If he was about to go berserk in the next moment.

They weren’t going to kiss again, were they?

While he was hesitating over what to do, a rustling sound suddenly came from the rose bush behind him. Immediately afterwards, intermittent noises rang out.

Translations are by vmnovels [dot] com, if you’re reading this anywhere else, then it was stolen.

An Ji had yet to realize what was going on when he saw Li Rong’s face suddenly turn red. His face and ears turned pink. Even though An Ji had no experience, he understood what was happening. He glanced back in surprise. The dense vegetation blocked his sight, and he could only see the flowers shaking regularly.

An Ji’s mouth opened and closed without sound. He didn’t think that these nobles would go that far.

“Don’t look at them,” Li Rong raised his hand and turned An Ji’s face away from the flowers, pretending to be calm, “Look at me.”

Li Rong tried to act the part of an experience driver, but his hot palms and trembling voice gave away his nervousness.

An Ji withdrew his gaze, and his hand on Li Rong’s waist gradually moved up to the back of Li Rong’s neck. He wasn’t reluctant about carrying out the agreement. To him, kissing once, or twice, or thrice wasn’t all that different. The question was whether Li Rong could accept the treatment in his current state.

Thinking of this, An Ji asked in a gentlemanly manner: “Can I kiss you?”

Li Rong was stunned. If he was tense before, then he was like an ice sculpture now, frozen solid. But his heart seemed to be equipped with a high bit rate engine, beating non-stop, as if it was going to rush off the planet and fly into space in the next moment.

When Li Rong didn’t answer, An Ji asked again, “So can I?”

After a long time, Li Rong finally found his voice and struggled to squeeze out a syllable, “Ye…”

Then An Ji kissed him on the lips.

Li Rong: “!”

Da-thump. Da-thump.

At nine o’ clock in the evening, the fireworks show started right on time. Brilliant fireworks emitted dazzling light all over the palace. In the garden, Li Rong’s eyes were wide as he took in this scene. To him, the brilliant blooms of light in the night sky were no more than a backdrop to enhance An Ji.

All he could feel now was An Ji’s hot body temperature and soft lips. The lingering ghost of pheromones teased his senses and made him feel slightly intoxicated.

In fact, this was not even a proper kiss. This was just a gentle touch of the corner of the mouth.

But for someone like Li Rong – who has been single for twenty years and even masturbating was considered rude – this was the furthest extent of intimacy he could imagine.

The moment An Ji took the initiative to kiss him, Li Rong felt like he was frozen into a popsicle, and then quickly thrown into boiling water. His body, blood, bones, and even soul were no longer under his control.

An indescribable impulse surged out from within his body, and the blood from his four limbs surged to his head.

Drip drip… Drip drip …

Bright red blood gushed out of Li Rong’s nose and fell onto the snow-white clothes, like red plums blooming in the snow.

An Ji opened and closed his mouth silently. He looked like he had seen a ghost. “Li Rong…”

Translations by Vanilla Muse.

“Ah? What’s wrong?” Li Rong was still immersed in the kiss just now. His head was dizzy, and the corners of his mouth were rising uncontrollably.

Before An Ji could say anything, he saw Li Rong’s body swaying. With this smiling expression on his face, he fell down with a thud.

An Ji: “…”

An Ji: “!”

F*ck, he knocked Li Rong unconscious with a kiss!

Chapter 96 – Beginning the Pursuit

The more you knew about this specialized field, the more you would realize how capable the developer of the Spring Flower series truly was.

This university was the top medical university in the country. Their test results were very authoritative. And like that, the dirty water on Spring Flower could be considered washed away.

Moreover, Spring Flower No. 1 was launched earlier than Yalan’s new product, and there have been no side effects up till now, whereas, a problem arose with Yalan’s new product not long after it was launched. Obviously, the problem lied with Yalan.

Translations are by vmnovels [dot] com, if you’re reading this anywhere else, then it was stolen.

With this kind of comparison, everyone could feel the magical powers of Spring Flower No. 1 more and more.

After a well-known university released their test results, other industry insiders and institutions have also indicated that they did their own research on the Spring Flower series, and the results show that it was indeed harmless.

Of course, this is not ruling out the possibility that there might be defects in the Spring Flower series that simply could not be detected with the current research technology.

Netizen: …

In the end, all this talking amounted to: The level of the Spring Flower series was simply too high, and other people could only do so much to study it.

Damn, that’s really NB*!

[*T/N: Chinese slang, short for 牛逼 (niu bi), which means something or someone that is awesome]

Therefore, all the remarks that suspected Duan Shu Tong of stealing He Run’s achievements disappeared.

If He Run had such an ability that could overturn the heavens, then he would not have experienced so much callousness in society. The company that he had previously worked for, no matter how stupid it was, it would not offend a golden goose.

So there could only be one answer: Young Master Duan was the true big shot in this field.

For a time, the comment area of the Spring and Autumn Hall’s official blog became a “Confession to Young Master Duan” segment. Many of the commenters were crying and begging for Young Master Duan to release new products soon, such as eye creams, essences, facial cleaners, sunscreens, etc. Don’t carelessly develop a series, okay!

As for Duan Shu Tong, the young master that everyone was currently admiring, he was researching the causes of the side effects of Yalan’s new product with Han Ling’s assistance. Furthermore, he was looking for a solution to the side effects.

From Han Ling’s perspective, there was no need for the Spring and Autumn Hall to enter these muddy waters. They could just observe the situation from the sidelines. And besides, there were hospitals that could research treatment plans for this situation.

But now, Duan Shu Tong was his boss, so naturally he had to follow his orders. Moreover, a Duan Shu Tong with such a research spirit was even more admirable.

For Duan Shu Tong, he did not encounter any technical obstacles when studying Yalan’s new product, and in a relatively short period of time, he has developed a solution. Han Ling was amazed after witnessing such a feat.

To be honest, he still had some doubts about Duan Shu Tong in the past, but after this incident, he’s been completely convinced of Duan Shu Tong’s abilities.

Han Ling held the research proposal in his hand and asked, “Are you going to publish it?”

Duan Shu Tong shook his head, “The hospitals can also come up with a treatment plan.”

The reason he researched this was purely as a hobby.

Han Ling: “…” All right then.

After leaving the lab, Duan Shut Tong opened his phone and saw that he had missed a call and a few WeChat messages.

The phone call was from Xi Duan. The WeChat messages were also from Xi Duan. The content of the WeChat messages was about the ins and outs of this entire incident.

After reading over the information, Duan Shu Tong could only feel helpless and exasperated. It turned out that the launch of Yalan’s new product this time was inextricably tied to one person.

This person has an online pseudonym called “Clear Sky Has Eyes.” It was precisely the same person who had once besmirched the entire industry.

The reason behind his actions was that he was dissatisfied with Xu Ya Ze forcefully stealing another person’s merits. Thus, with resentment in his heart, he straight up pushed out the unfinished product.

Translations by Vanilla Muse.

It has to be said that Xu Ya Ze was to be blamed for this incident. If it weren’t because he was used to riding roughshod over people, then Clear Sky Has Eyes would not have been able to slip into the gap and get the unfinished product to pass through quality inspection without a hitch.

As long as one had Xu Ya Ze’s “oral command,” then every department in Yalan must give the green light to proceed.

Clear Sky Has Eyes was an older technician, and could be considered in the same generation as He Run. Back then he was indifferent to He Run’s affairs. But he didn’t expect that one day the products that he worked so hard to develop would also be taken away.

When people get stepped on, they would often do irrational things. It’s not like he didn’t know that the consumers would be the ones ultimately harmed by this, but he was blinded by anger and he wanted to drag Yalan into the muddy waters no matter what.

One ill-considered action led to the present chaos and disorder.

However, his actions could not escape the investigation of the police. After the truth was revealed, Clear Sky Has Eyes had his license revoked, his professional qualifications deprived, and he had to face the corresponding legal responsibilities.

Chapter 115 – The Token of a Long-Awaited Reunion

Qiu Jin then remembered that the two of them were mutually treating each other’s pheromone disorders. Thanks to the special inhibitor, Qiu Jin did not need to rely on Ji Shenxiao as intensively as before, but Ji Shenxiao still needed Qiu Jin’s pheromones.

Fortunately, Qiu Jin was not a stingy partner. He tore off his gland patch, revealing his plump glands.

“Come on, then.”

He lowered his head so that it would be easier for Ji Shenxiao to bite down.

Perhaps it was due to psychological reasons, but once his glands became exposed to the air, they suddenly became sensitive, swollen, and itchier than usual. When a finger accidentally passed over the glands, there was a strange numbness.

Translations are by vmnovels [dot] com, if you’re reading this anywhere else, then it was stolen.

Due to his diet, Qiu Jin’s body has lost a lot of weight, making his neck look even more slender, as if even a light touch would break him.

Ji Shenxiao stared at Qiu Jin’s neck for a while and then he suddenly lowered his head and licked it.

Qiu Jin: “!!”

The layer of skin over the glands was the most sensitive part of a human body. It was three times more sensitive than the private parts between one’s legs.

Ji Shenxiao’s warm tongue touched the skin above the glands, stimulating every tactile nerve on it.

Qiu Jin’s body trembled uncontrollably nad he asked in an unsteady voice, “What- what are you doing?”

Ji Shenxiao did not answer, but his breathing became a little rougher.

It was intense desire.

Qiu Jin suddenly recalled this character setting of Ji Shenxiao’s. Before, Ji Shenxiao’s Pheromone Reception Disorder caused him to be repressed, but right now they were using each other’s pheromones to help with each other’s disorders. So could it mean that those parts of Ji Shenxiao were beginning to awaken?

What was he going to do if Ji Shenxiao could not control it some day and directly marked him?

Once this thought entered his head, Qiu Jin did not want to linger any longer, but as it happened he had just agree to do this. It would be too inhumane to just turn tail and leave now.

Support the translator. Read this on vmnovels (dot) com

But surely Ji Shenxiao would not go out of control at this moment, right?

Ji Shenxiao’s self-control was astonishing. Moreover, he was the type who valued feelings over pheromones, so it was almost impossible for him to mark another person based on impulse.

After rationalizing this over, Qiu Jin’s heart finally calmed back down.

That’s right. They were just patients helping each other out. This was purely medical behavior.

Die early to reincarnate early.

In order to have Ji Shenxiao bite him quickly and get this over with, Qiu Jin took the initiative to lower his head. It looked like a posture of surrender.

Because of this action of his, the breathing of the man behind him suddenly became rapid. Qiu Jin wasn’t sure if he was just imaging things, but he felt like there was something hard pressing against him from behind.

“President Ji?” Qiu Jin was about to cry from fright.

The man’s voice was cold and hoarse. He said, “I told you to call me by my name.”

They were already at this stage, so why must this man quibble over whether or not he called him by his name?

Qiu Jin wanted to run away, but Ji Shenxiao held him tightly, so he could only bite the bullet and say, “Ji- Ji Shenxiao.”

Translations by Vanilla Muse.

As soon as Qiu Jin finished talking, the man behind him took half a step back, putting some distance between their bodies. In a hoarse voice, Ji Shenxiao said, “It’s my cell phone, don’t over think it.”

Qiu Jin wanted to cry without tears, “I haven’t said anything yet! Why are you feeling guilty?”

Ji Shenxiao: “It’s good as long as you’re not misunderstanding.”

At a time like this, why did it matter if he misunderstood or not? Qiu Jin urged again, “Come on, hurry up and bite me, and then let me go!”

“Then stand still.”

Qiu Jin: “…”

Damn it, why were his legs going weak again? Ji Shenxiao hasn’t even bitten him yet!

Qiu Jin cautiously begged, “Can we go to the sofa?”

Because of his fear, his voice carried a pitiful vibrato.

Ji Shenxiao did not answer. He pulled Qiu Jin back half a step. Then he lowered his head and bit down on Qiu Jin’s neck.

“Ugh…!”

The strong stimulation made Qiu Jin’s eyes widen suddenly, and countless tiny electrical currents poured into his brain, making his whole body shudder.

His animal brain fight-or-flight instincts kicked in, making him want to flee, but the hand wrapped around his waist was getting tighter and tighter…

Qiu Jin was locked into an inescapable position. It even felt a bit humiliating.

Asides from sticking close to Ji Shenxiao’s body, Qiu Jin could not find another way to keep himself upright, so he could only stay in the other man’s possessive hold.

Translations by Vanilla Muse.

At the moment when the alpha’s pheromones entered his body, Qiu Jin felt his mind go blank. The strong stimulation made him arch his neck. Only his closeness to the other man prevented him from melting into a puddle onto the floor.

After a long, long time, Ji Shenxiao finally loosened his bite and let go of Qiu Jin’s neck. With the joyful voice of one who has been satiated, he said, “Look, standing [while we do it] is fine too.”

Qiu Jin: “…”

How was this fine?! Couldn’t the man see that he couldn’t even stand up straight?

He finally understood, no matter how impeccable and put together an alpha normally was, once they got their teeth into some meat, they would all become f*cking animals!

Chapter 154

To think that such an ability exists. Su Shi felt that the [Come, Come and Hit Me] ability was simply tailor-made for him.

Su Shi remembered how he was forced to form a team with the protagonist as soon as he entered the last world, and he shook with trepidation from the lingering trauma. Without hesitation, he selected the [Come, Come and Hit Me] ability, and then he specifically bought a few more analgesic from the storehouse. Only then did he feel somewhat more at ease.

“Host, actually the early stage of this game will be somewhat perilous. The Dark God said that he would never partner up with us again. So we should go over our experiences. We can’t just depend on his help.”

After finally coming down from its high, the system conscientiously displayed numerous cheat secrets for carrying the pot on the screen: “I got these from the hosts of other systems, do you want to study them?”

Translations are by vmnovels [dot] com, if you’re reading this anywhere else, then it was stolen.

“A ferocious expression and cold aura is a must. You must toss aside your own inherent image, quickly build a cold core, and regard yourself as a villain from the bottom of your heart.”

Su Shi nodded. With his chin in his hand he recited the advice again. He couldn’t help but look up at the system: “Am I not vicious enough?”

The system kept silent, Su Shi was silent for a moment, then nodded in compromise, and continued to read through the words very rapidly.

Seeing that Su Shi accepted the opinion humbly, the system also felt relieved, and continued to diligently come up with ideas: “The world automatically synthesizes the face, so it generally cannot be changed, but as long as the eye expressions are good, there will be no problem!”

Su Shi has gone through several worlds. It seemed that as long as a character developed some sort of relationship with him, their favorability of him would only rise and not fall.

Su Shi was aware of that to some extent. But when he first started playing this at high intensity, he always went the route of a gentle character that was good at shifting the blame away from himself. So even though he had to play the part of a devilish villain, he did not understand the core concepts of such a role.

Afer looking through the system’s shopping center, he happened to find an upgradeable skill called [Explosive Acting]. After pondering it for a while, he bought it and immediately equipped the skill.

Staying in this space for too long was useless and not advantageous, so after he finished resting up and reorganizing things, Su Shi chose to go to the next world.

His body plummeted.

When he opened his eyes again, the scenery had changed into the olden times.

Su Shi was currently sitting on a bamboo chair. In front of him was a sheet of white paper.

The eunuch who came to transmit the emperor’s edict was speaking in a shrill and indifferent voice: “The emperor has ordered that if Prime Minister Lu wants to explain anything then he should write it down on this piece of paper. After the emperor finishes dealing with the official business of the imperial court, he will naturally find time to read it…”

Ahh, he has returned to a familiar choice again.

When a brush was rudely stuffed into his hand, Su Shi’s expression remained unchanged. But he suddenly felt a vague tension that seemed like predestination.

According to experience, if he straight up confessed his sin, people would think that he was deliberately hiding some secret trouble. But if he opened his mouth to defend himself, the other person was likely to really wait for him to explain himself.

Unable to advance or retreat, Su Shi’s expression was slightly stern. He suddenly shook out his sleeves and stood up. He flicked both the brush in his hand and the piece of paper on the table to the floor.

He sneered, “Why should I explain?”

His face this time was clear and elegant. Even if he was just sitting upright and did not speak, he would exude a somewhat gentle and relaxing aura for no reason whatsoever. But at the moment, his eyes were suddenly as cold as frost and snow. He looked at the couple of eunuchs who had come to transmit the emperor’s orders. The expression in his eyes was fierce and killing intent spread out from him.

Translations by Vanilla Muse.

Su Shi frightened the eunuch so much that he did not dare to say another word. The eunuch picked up the piece of paper on the floor and scrambled out of the room with his head bowed, not daring to look back.

But before the eunuch could make his way back to the imperial study, he bumped into the regent Song Rong, and the piece of paper in his hand was taken away.

There was not a single word written on it. There were only splatters of ink left on it from when the brush and paper were flicked onto the floor.

“Wangye*, this is what the emperor told Prime Minister Lu to-”

[*T/N: 王爷 wang ye – a prince, marquis, or nobleman]

The eunuch spoke hurriedly, but Song Rong’s expression had already sunk slightly. His dark eyes were faintly cold: “The emperor only told you people to come and question him [as a suspect]. Who allowed you to humiliate him like this?”

The ink splatters were disorderly. It was evident that such marks were caused by carelessly flinging the brush and paper on the floor.

The eunuch’s expression changed slightly, and he hurriedly wanted to explain, but Song Rong had already instructed in a low voice: “Acting like a fox that exploits the tiger’s might*. Just because you have something to rely on, you’re riding roughshod over people. Such people should not be serving the emperor. Take him away.”

[*T/N: “the fox exploits the tiger’s might” is an idiom meaning to use powerful connections to intimidate other people, even though you might not have any power yourself]

Before the eunuch could speak, the imperial guards on both sides had already come up and dragged him away without any explanations. Not too long after, there were faint screams in the distance.

Translations are by vmnovels [dot] com, if you’re reading this anywhere else, then it was stolen.

The advisor behind him hesitated for a moment, but still stepped forward to speak.

“Wangye, Prime Minister Lu is on the verge of life and death because of a serious crime, and he will be thrown into prison soon. Even if a castrated man humiliates him, he does not say a word [in retaliation]…”

Song Rong folded up the piece of paper and tucked it away. He sighed softly, “The fact that he did not say anything speaks volumes of his unhappiness. Let’s reply back to the emperor first. Say that Prime Minister Lu is not feeling well. I’m going to visit him [Prime Minister Lu] now.”

Dark Eunuch: Is there a way for me to survive?!?! (つДQ)

Didn’t Love You Enough 96

T/N: Hello, I’m back! Thank you for your patience everyone. I’ve sort of figured out a new way to translate by using a free online word processor, but the translating process is not as smooth as before. Maybe I just need some more time to get used to it and then I can translate faster. I still need to access Pages, though. It has all my translation documents, and the software continues to glitch, which frustrates me to no end. I think it might be due to the most recent system software update. I do recall performing a update prior to the glitching. Maybe Apple tried to add something to Pages in the new update and ended up glitching it. Hopefully the next software update will fix it. Fingers crossed.

Chapter 96 – Colored Lantern

The eunuch delivered the lantern to Yu-shi. After receiving the lantern, she hurriedly bestowed him a reward. “Thank you for the trouble…”

Yu-shi brought the lotus lantern to An’er.

“An’er, look… your father still thinks of you. The next time you see your father you must be more quick-witted and ingratiating. Understand?”

“Understood.” An’er nodded obediently as she touched the exquisite lantern.

Over on Song-shi’s side, she also received a colored lantern. She gave the lantern to Kang-er to carry in her hands.

“Look… how beautiful this peony lantern is. Kang’er, be careful when you’re carrying this around, don’t light it [with fire]…”

While saying this, Song-shi indicated to Kang’er’s wet nurse to watch out for the little girl.

Kang’er ran around the room with the beautiful peony lantern in her hands. She liked it very much. Her wet nurse followed her around and said nervously, “Little Master… slow down a little… be careful of falling…”

Kang’er didn’t listen to her wet nurse. She kept running around the room and occasionally burst out into peals of laughter.

The wet nurse followed Kang’er around and tried to coax her by saying, “Little Master, look at how beautiful this colored lantern is, if you drop and break it, then it won’t be beautiful anymore. Little Master, slow down, stop running… Little Master, stop, look at this lantern, it’s so pretty, ya… I bet this peony lantern is the most beautiful one in Ping Le Courtyard.”

“Ping Le Courtyard? The freak’s courtyard!” Kang’er stopped. She suddenly became angry and panicked. She flung the lantern to the ground. The candle inside the lantern instantly ignited the lantern and it burned up.

The wet nurse quickly stepped forward to put out the fire, and Song-shi immediately rushed over when she heard the commotion.

“What happened? Everything was fine. Why did it burn up all of a sudden? Kang’er… didn’t Mother tell you to be more careful? It was His Royal Highness who had someone deliver this lantern over here…”

Somewhat angry, Song-shi turned to the wet nurse, “Didn’t I tell you to look after Kang’er?”

“Master, this servant has been following the little master around all this time. I don’t know why the little master suddenly threw the lantern onto the ground,” the wet nurse replied, feeling aggrieved.

“It came from the freak’s courtyard, I don’t want it!” Kang’er said loudly.

“What freak? Kang’er, don’t talk nonsense,” Song-shi scolded Kang’er.

Kang’er struggled to get away, “It came from the freak’s courtyard. Father is not coming to see Kang’er because the freak is coiled around him. It’s the freak’s fault*…”

[*T/N: The specific word used here is 害死 (hai si), which means to be the cause of someone’s death.]

Song-shi covered her daughter’s mouth and asked sternly, “Kang’er, what kind of drivel are you talking about? Kang’er, who told you these words?”

“How do you normally look after Kang’er? Who told her such things?” Song-shi looked at Kang’er’s wet nurse with cold eyes.

The wet nurse knelt down and begged for mercy. “Master, ah, this servant never said such words, ah, don’t accuse this servant wrongly, ah…”

Song-shi felt annoyed at the sight of the wet nurse’s snot and tears. This wet nurse could not be allowed to stay by Kang’er’s side any longer. She didn’t know where Kang’er heard such words, but if His Royal Highness or Lin-xiaoshi found out, then it would be most terrible…

On the outside, Song-shi may seem honest, well behaved, and slow of speech, but she wasn’t a fool. She knew very well how to keep a low profile. She knew how to protect herself. She was His Royal Highness’s first woman, and she was the first to conceive a child for His Royal Highness. If it wasn’t for this, how could she live peacefully in the harem of His Royal Highness, and never became a threat in the eyes of the crown prince’s other women?

Kang’er struggled to get away again and ran back into the room. Song-shi followed closely behind and said into Kang’er’s ear, “Kang’er, good child, ah, in the future you can’t talk nonsense about freaks and such, do you understand? Especially not in front of your father, the crown prince. You must not say such things again, do you understand?”

Lin-xiaoshi was now in the limelight. He might seem naïve and pure, but his schemes were deeply hidden. In a short period of time, he was able to gain the crown prince’s special favoring, get rid of Xu Xue Ying, and now he even got the empress to be his backer. Song-shi did not dare to provoke him… She repeatedly emphasized the importance of not speaking nonsense in her daughter’s ear, and didn’t stop nagging until Kang’er agreed.

Status Update

Apologies for the delay. Pages (the word processor that I use on Apple) has been glitching out on me recently, making it hard to complete my translation work. I don’t know why it’s like this now when it was working perfectly fine before. My laptop is also fairly new, so it shouldn’t be a hardware problem either. I’m trying to troubleshoot it with my very limited tech knowledge (as this is not my field of expertise). I’m also looking into other methods to continue translating, but I’ve developed a very specific work flow over the past few years and changing that will extend my translation process while I get use to the new method. Please be patient for a while longer.

Thank you for your understanding,
Vanilla Muse

Chapter 95 – Colored Lantern* (31.1)

[*T/N: Specifically the kind used at the Lantern Festival, which is the 15th day of the Lunar New Year.]

As the saying goes, sickness comes like a landslide, but goes slowly like spinning silk. Lin Jia Bao’s illness improved slowly, and he lost a lot of weight. Xuan Yuan Han Cheng was deeply distressed when he saw that the little bit of weight that his baby had put on was now all gone, and he was skinny like before.

Xuan Yuan Han Cheng ordered Shu Ya to prepare medicinal cuisine for Jia Bao everyday to nurse his health. Finally, Jia Bao’s complexion looked a little better in the past two days.

On the fifteenth day of the first lunar month, on the Lantern Festival, Xuan Yuan Han Cheng negated the idea of Lin Jia Bao personally making sticky rice dumplings. To him, his darling’s health was the most important thing. As long as they could spend the holiday together, then nothing else mattered.

Translations are by vmnovels [dot] com, if you’re reading this anywhere else, then it was stolen.

In the evening, they ate delicious sticky rice dumplings together. The sweet red bean paste was Lin Jia Bao’s favorite. Lin Jia Bao ate six sticky rice dumplings in one sitting. When he was about to go for a seventh one, Xuan Yuan Han Cheng stopped him.

“This sticky rice dumpling is good, but if you eat too much, it will be hard to digest. Stuffing yourself too much is not good… Darling, if you like it then just have the small kitchen make it again some other time…”

After hearing this, Lin Jia Bao had no choice but to obediently put down the tableware…

Xuan Yuan Han Cheng led Lin Jia Bao by the hand. “Darling, you’re such a good boy… come with me… my baby…”

Xuan Yuan Han Cheng took Lin Jia Bao outside to the courtyard.

Ever since Lin Jia bao got sick, he has not been allowed to leave the room. The weather was cold, Xuan Yuan Han Cheng was deeply afraid that Lin Jia Bao would catch a cold again, but he also knew that his darling was a little bored. Xuan Yuan Han Cheng knew that Lin Jia Bao has been looking forward to the Lantern Festival, so he specially prepared a surprise for Jia Bao.

The scenery in the yard stunned Lin Jia Bao. All the trees in the courtyard were covered with colored lanterns. Each lantern was colorful and different in shape. There were peony-shaped lanterns, lotus-shaped lanterns, and many more. They were all beautiful and delicate.

There were also some small, animal-shaped lanterns such as tiger lanterns, rabbit lanterns, kitten lanterns, deer lanterns, etc. All of them were vivid and lifelike.

With Xuan Yuan Han Cheng’s support, Lin Jia Bao strolled around the courtyard. He stopped in front of each lantern to admire them.

“Which one does my darling like? Hm… the little rabbit?” With one arm wrapped around Lin Jia Bao, Xuan Yuan Han Cheng reached out his other arm to fetch down a little rabbit lantern from a tree branch and gave it to Lin Jia Bao.

Lin Jia Bao took the rabbit lantern and carefully held it in his hand.

When he was a child, he heard about people admiring the beauty of colored lanterns on the Lantern Festival. And in poems it would talk about a gifted scholar and a beautiful lady falling in love at first sight when they met at a lantern festival… He has never been to a lantern festival before, and now he understood why that beautiful lady in the poem gave her heart away because of a colored lantern…

Lin Jia Bao smiled and looked at Xuan Yuan Han Cheng. This was his royal highness, his prince, his husband, and the destination of his heart…

Xuan Yuan Han Cheng looked at his darling smiling face with fondness, and gently caressed the small dimples on his darling’s face. He bent down and lowered his head to kiss Lin Jia Bao’s small mouth. He repeatedly licked Jia Bao’s soft lips.

Lin Jia Bao closed his eyes, and opened his mouth slightly. Xuan Yuan Han Cheng’s tongue slipped inside and entangled with Jia Bao’s little tongue…

“Darling, let’s go back inside to the room…” Xuan Yuan Han Cheng said in a hoarse voice. With his darling treasure sick these past two days, he didn’t even have the privilege of being intimate with his baby. Alas…

Lin Jia Bao looked at the lanterns hanging on the trees, “What about these lanterns?”

“Baby, if you like them then just leave them hanging up…” Xuan Yuan Han Cheng said inattentively.

Lin Jia Bao thought about it and said, “It’s such a pity to just hang these beautiful lanterns here. Let’s share them with everyone. Kang’er and An’er would definitely like them.”

Xuan Yuan Han Cheng gestured for Yuan Fu to come over. He pointed at two colored lanterns, one peony shaped and one lotus shaped. He said, “Send these over to them, ba…”

“Understood.” Yuan Fu immediately ordered one of the eunuchs working under him to send the lanterns over.

Lin Jia Bao went on to say, “Also give one to Shu Ya, Shu Qin, Yuan Fu, oh, and Yuan Qing. I wonder if he is better now?”

“This little one thanks Lin-xiaozhu for the reward, and also thank you on behalf of Yuan Qing, still thinking of him… Yuan Qing is recovering very well. In a few more days, he will be able to return to the little master’s side and resume his post.”

Yuan Qing, this little kid, was quite lucky. It was so dangerous back then. He got injured, but it wasn’t a serious injury. After a few more days, he should be healthy and active again.

Lin Jia Bao felt relieved when he heard that Yuan Qing was recovering well.

Chapter 141.2 – To Incite Disharmony

An Zi Ran found the scene before him a little strange. The laowangye was already so old, yet he still addressed himself as erchen before the empress dowager.

“Do you find it amusing?”

Fu Wu Tian lowered his voice and whispered in An Zi Ran’s ear. There was a hint of contempt in his tone of voice.

An Zi Ran hesitated for a moment and then nodded.

Fu Wu Tian said: “In this world, there are two people that grandfather cannot go against. One of them is uncle, and the other one is the empress dowager. In front of great grandmother, even grandfather will be more ‘well-behaved’ and he won’t put up a hard front.”

The empress dowager was already over eighty years old. She was the longest-lived empress dowager in Da Ya. Due to her health care routine, she was not like most elderly people who could only lie in bed and could not move. Her mind was clear, and her energy levels were better than the average elderly person.

Translations are by vmnovels [dot] com, if you’re reading this anywhere else, then it was stolen.

But the empress dowager was indeed quite old, so the laowangye did not dare to anger her even a little bit, and he would never deliberately go against her. Even if he were reprimanded, he would endure it silently like a mute.

It was rare for four generations of the family to gather in Ciming Palace. In the end, Fu Yi also sat down after the empress dowager ordered him to. The room was full of talk and laughter. Although it was not as lively as the state banquet, the atmosphere was warmer than the state banquet.

An Zi Ran also liked the empress dowager very much. From time to time, he would say something that would cause her to laugh heartily. It was somewhat different from his usual apathetic manner.

After talking and laughing for nearly two quarters of an hour, the empress dowager reluctantly revealed a trace of exhaustion. Thus the three of them escorted her inside to rest before taking their leave.

After they left Ciming Palace, Fu Yi went to fetch the carriage, and the laowangye finally allowed his expression to go cold. He didn’t so much as glance at the pair.

“Wu Tian, back then, I told you marry the young lady of the An family. I didn’t tell you to marry the eldest young master of the An family. You know perfectly well that you’re the Fu wangfu’s sole scion. Are you deliberately trying to make your grandfather angry?”

Fu Wu Tian took An Zi Ran by the hand and walked up to the laowangye. He said slowly: “Grandfather, you are wrong. Fu wangfu still has uncle. He is also surnamed Fu.”

Hearing him mention Fu Yi, the old prince frowned, “Your uncle is forty years old, and he has no plans to marry and have children. Do you think you can count on him? Don’t think I don’t know what you’re planning. I don’t care what you think. In short, you must give me the next generation of the Fu wangfu. Afterwards, you can marry whomever you want and I won’t interfere.”

If Fu Yi was willing to marry a wife and have children, of course the laowangye would be very happy, but because he felt guilty towards Fu Yi, he didn’t dare to force Fu Yi, so… he could only force his grandson…

“Then I’m sorry, I’m afraid I’ll have to disappoint Grandfather.” Fu Wu Tian said calmly, not taking the old man’s words to heart at all.

The laowangye’s expression turned gloomy in a split second. He knew that this grandson’s occasional obedience was actually an illusion. In essence, no one could force him. Unless he was in a good mood at the time, he would be more stubborn than his father. The old man really didn’t know whom Fu Wu Tian inherited this personality from.

Unable to deal with his grandson, the old man simply focused on An Zi Ran, “If you still acknowledge me as your grandfather, then persuade Wu Tian to marry a concubine, otherwise I will not approve of you.”

An Zi Ran looked at the old man. Then he looked at Fu Wu Tian, who wore a calm expression on his face. He dropped his gaze and said serenely, “Then, I can only refuse to acknowledge you as my grandfather.”

Fu Wu Tian sneered unceremoniously.

The laowangye’s expression turned dark again. He had no memory of the time when his brain was addled, so this could be considered his first head-to-head confrontation with An Zi Ran. The young man’s character was unexpectedly difficult, but he had a few points of his esteemed father’s character. Thinking of this, the laowangye immediately felt very upset.

Translations by Vanilla Muse.

“Grandfather, during my father’s generation, the Fu wangfu and the emperor were already divided at heart, although they appeared to be united on the outside. Isn’t my not having any heirs what they [the emperor’s side] want? Like this, they won’t have reason to bother Fu wangfu in the future. And we won’t have to completely fall out with them.”

Fu Wu Tian tried to move the laowangye with his fallacious reasoning.

“Nonsense!”

The laowangye was not so easily moved. This sentence was fallacious no matter how you listened to it. Did Fu Wu Tian think everyone else were idiots? According to his meaning, there would be no Fu wangfu in the future, so of course there wouldn’t be any falling out.
